With the major league draft right around the corner, Manatee High School (FL) quarterback and Mississippi State signee Cord Sandberg is preparing to hear his name called so he can plan for his future. As anxious as all of the Mississippi State faithful are right now, you have to feel excited for a young man that put it so much hard work in order to get himself to this point in his life.
John- The draft is right around the corner. Are there any certain teams that you are paying attention to or watching right now?
Sandberg- No sir, not really. Any team can draft you so you really wont know until that time.
John- What all teams have you worked out for?
Sandberg- Recently, I have worked out for the Cardinals, Rangers, Reds, Orioles, and Royals.
John -So tell me how your baseball season went? Do you feel like you performed well?
Sandberg- Yes sir, not bad. My average was .418. I had 7 doubles and 2 triples. I only had one homerun, but I was happy with what I did overall.
John- What are your thoughts on this years Mississippi State baseball team?
Sandberg- They are playing great right now. I am excited to see them play these next couple of weeks. Hopefully, they can get to the College World Series and compete for a championship.
John- So with the draft after the first day you can report, I am sure that will decide your plans. If you do not get what you are looking for , would you report to Mississippi State in July?
Sandberg- Exactly. I'm not sure of the exact date but it will be in early July.
John- So I know the draft has to happen before you know, but are you still excited about Mississippi State maybe being your future home?
Sandberg- Definitely. There is not any other place I would rather play and have my college experience then Starkville.
John- Are your plans now to play both sports or just football at Mississippi State?
Sandberg- I want to play both. I can't just sit and watch games. I have to play!!!Return to News
